In Iron Man 3, we see Iron Man suits just about everywhere. I love the ways the suits themselves are used as props, in a film that is ostensibly about using props. The suits are seen countless times flying (often in disembodied pieces) through the air, and while Tony Stark wears the suits, he’s more oven seen sliding right out of them, using parts of them, launching them—even blowing them up. They’re used as decoys, and sometimes, traps. They’ve never been presented so consistently as mere objects and machinery—and that’s important thematically, since this film is about Tony coming to terms with what it means to beIron Man.
